We are seeking a commercially minded Head of Conveyancing to take ownership of an established and growing conveyancing division within a well-respected legal practice. This is a rare opportunity to inherit an existing operation, lead a sizeable team and significantly influence the future growth and profitability of the department.

The role is predominantly home-based, with occasional travel requiredacross the UK.

This is far more than a traditional operational management role. You’ll be responsible for leading and developing a conveyancing department of approximately 50 people while simultaneously driving business growth through strategic partnerships and market development.

You’ll have the backing of an established legal practice with access to internal marketing support, cross-referral opportunities and an existing client base across multiple disciplines including family law, planning, corporate law and other legal services.

The platform is already in place. We need an entrepreneurial leader to take it to the next level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, inspire and develop a team of approximately 50 conveyancing professionals
  • Drive operational excellence, compliance and service delivery across the department
  • Monitor performance, workloads, productivity and case progression
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, risk management and quality standards are maintained at all times
  • Identify training needs, manage performance issues and develop future leaders within the team
  • Build and grow relationships with estate agents, developers, introducers and key referral partners
  • Develop new B2B and B2C business opportunities
  • Create and execute a growth strategy for the conveyancing division
  • Work closely with senior leadership to increase revenue, profitability and market share
  • Represent the firm externally and act as a brand ambassador within the property sector

We’re looking for someone who combines strong legal and compliance knowledge with genuine commercial acumen.

You’ll possess:

  • Extensive residential conveyancing experience
  • Proven experience managing large teams and departmental performance
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, risk management and quality assurance
  • Experience handling operational issues, performance management and process improvement
  • A commercial mindset with a proven ability to win and develop business
  • Established relationships within the property sector, estate agency world or developer market would be highly advantageous
  • The drive, ambition and entrepreneurial spirit to build something significant
